back to school with Loft!

August 15, 2019

Back to school for this teacher! So excited for a fresh start and a new year of teaching my firsties! I am so excited to be partnering with Loft to share the best work wear pants perfect for summer and fall! It’s a work pant but with a little more flare!

To style these fun, flare pants, I added a neutral leopard top to contrast the bright red pants. These riviera pants are stretchy and comfy and come in several colors! I love the bright red with leopard print, especially with these fun earrings that matched perfectly! As a teacher and blogger, I’m all about comfortable and chic pieces that won’t break the bank! This top and these pants are the perfect pieces to carry you into fall! Scroll down to shop my entire look!

Oh, and these pants pair perfectly with iced coffee of course!

Happy back to school for those teachers and students out there, we got this!!

XOXO, LPOC

Happy #friyay!! This teacher is ready for the weekend, especially because it’s finally starting to feel like fall here in Texas! One way I love transitioning my wardrobe into the fall season is with layers! This black blazer is the perfect fall staple to layer over dresses, blouses or tanks for a work day and makes any dress or top business appropriate! Read below for more workday style tips from this teacher…

As October approaches, my closet has quickly gone from bright colors of summer to neutrals for fall. This look has the only colors you need: black white and brown! When paired together, it just feels right. I scored this polka dot dress from Old Navy for under $30! Shop my dress and the rest of my teacher look below. I styled the dress with a black linen blazer, chestnut mule slip ons and my oversized but necessary tote to carry all of my teaching needs!

To accessorize for work, I am always wearing a watch. Especially this simple, staple Rose gold watch from Daniel Wellington! It goes with everything and matches my engagement ring, win win! I finished my look with some black Kendra Scott earrings and this black and brown tote bag that holds all of my teacher things!

Hope you have a great weekend, thanks so much for reading!

XOXO, LPOC

The School Bell

September 15, 2017

School is in full swing, we are almost to our fifth week of the year already?! Time flies in first grade y’all! I wanted to share this look for you teachers and business ladies out there that want a look you can transition from work to weekend.

This look is perfect for that fall transition in Texas. I am all about pairing long sleeves with shorts or skirts like I did here! It appears more “fall” without getting overheated! These sleeves on this top are just too fun, I am all about bell sleeves lately. I scored this shirt from TjMaxx recently and just love the different ways I can style it. I love it tucked into a skirt like I did here or paired with skinnies and fun wedges for a night out. This look will easily transition you from work to weekend. You could always swap the mules for flats for the work day, you don’t see this teacher in heels very often! This green suede skirt is an oldie but a goody! I am all about skirts/dresses with pockets for school. I love mixing colors and patterns that don’t typically go together, so this blue & green combo was a little out of my comfort zone but so fun!

Necessories: The accessories that completed my look were my green/rose gold Kendra Scott earrings and this brown cross body bag from Macy’s Backstage. The earrings tied in perfectly with my olive skirt!

Black to school

September 2, 2017

It’s officially the best month of the year, September aka my BDAY month and the start of the best season of the year, FALL! Oh and football season and pumpkin spice and new fall styles. So basically it wins. I recently asked in a survey on my blog what people want to see more of on LPOC and the majority wanted teaching tips/style. So here we are! I have started a new tab on my blog for all things teacher-y including teaching tips, style and more and I am so excited to combine my two passions into one! Little Piece of Teach will be your go-to for affordable work style, where to buy classroom decor & more. This first post is going back to the basics. A little cheetah and a whole lot of B&W! Read below for teaching style tips…

We made it to a long weekend and this teacher was ready! The first few weeks of school are pretty crazy and you get out of summer mode real quick. You can really tell what type of day it is based on my hair when I get home. Recess duty days always include a dress and ponytail and my days off of duty typically include pants and a cute blouse tucked in. Being a first grade teacher, black pants are usually my go-to when there are crayons, dry erase markers and chalk involved. I bought these pants from Gap Outlet this summer and they are super comfy and versatile. I paired these pants with this white bell sleeved top from Loft(linked below).

To finish off my teacher style, I wore these fun pointed cheetah flats from Old Navy! To accessorize for work, a watch is always involved. This Daniel Wellington watch is my new staple accessory. I just love the rose gold and black details. Use code: Littlepieceofchic for 15% off now, here is the link to shop my watch: https://www.danielwellington.com/us/dw-watch-women-classic-sheffield-rose-gold-36mm

I wore my tan cross body bag to tie in with my cheetah flats to keep my look completely neutral. A fun way to dress up a look for work/school is to wear a bold lipstick color. I recently started wearing A touch of Spice matte by Maybelline and it is my current fave. I always feel put together with lipstick on!
