little piece of chic

chic happens

fur sure

December 22, 2016

Can you believe Christmas is in just 3 days?! It really is crazy how fast time flies when you are adulting… I have really tried to slow down this holiday season and not let the hustle and bustle stress me out and stray me away from what Christmas really is all about. I have tried to appreciate the little things like movie nights with the family or girls nights spent with laughter, cookies & The Holiday(best Christmas movie ever). What have you enjoyed about this holiday season? Comment below, I’d love to hear how you celebrate this exciting time!

Texas weather is so wishy washy but lately, it has been pretty “chilly” which means I whip out the layers and beanies. I put together this casual, wintery look with lots of neutrals and cozy pieces! Read below for outfit details and more…

For this wintery look, I kept everything very neutral. Starting with my new kicks, these Nike grey shoes have the perfect colors to complete any look. I scored these at TjMaxx but I have linked similar styles below. I based my whole look off of these shoes, so I added a cozy grey sweater and cream sweater layered on top to tie in perfectly with my shoes. These sweaters are some of my winter staples thanks to Old Navy & Gap! I have linked both sweaters below as well. I finished my look off with my go to jeans, these Sculpt Old Navy jeans that do not stretch or fade at all! I made my look even more wintery with this faux fur beanie. I actually bought this beanie at the Frisco Mercantile but linked similar ones below…

Since my look was super casual, I just added a few key necessories to finish off my look. I wore my favorite Kendra Necklace(linked below), this rose gold, marble necklace that matches anything and everything! I also don’t go anywhere without my rose gold apple watch, best decision ever. My fur beanie added an extra something to my look along with my favorite tote, this maroon bag from Old Navy of course. This look was super simple and easy to put together, I am sure you have similar styles in your closet that can keep you cozy and chic during these cold months!

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year! I am so thankful for you and for having this outlet to share my passion with you. Have a wonderful holiday,

XOXO, LPOC

black friday

November 25, 2016

Processed with VSCO with s3 preset

On Black Friday, I wear black. I am all about keeping it neutral and simple, especially this time of year. I am loving this layered look that is in right now so I decided to style a look featuring just that. This Gap tank dress is the perfect layering piece for any turtleneck or thin sweater to layer underneath. It is also super comfy, including pockets! I just added some black tights, suede, black booties and a tote and I was ready to shop! Read below for tips on shopping smart and where I am shopping this Black Friday/Cyber Monday…

I am all about the deals and knocking out my Christmas shopping between Black Friday, Small Business Saturday & Cyber Monday…I know, I am one of the crazy ones. I actually braved the stores last year at midnight and had the BEST time scoring deals and drinking Starbucks, of course. This time of year can be overwhelming and expensive if you don’t shop smart, so I am here to give you a few tips to stay in your budget and help you decide what is worth the lines and what can wait til Cyber Monday.

1. Remember what this time of year really is all about, spend it with those you love and let the gift giving come second.

2. If you are braving the stores on Black Friday, first wear comfy shoes and second, get you some coffee.

3. Decide what is worth the lines and what you can hold off on until the comfort of your own bed on Cyber Monday. For me, I usually focus on clothes when going out on Friday. I have a hard time ordering clothes online when I can’t try them on so I always opt for in store. I always score major deals on clothing at Gap, Old Navy & Target. You can find clothes for the whole family at these stores and they are already affordable as is.

4. Save accessories, technology and beauty products for Cyber Monday. You can easily shop these products online without having to see them or try them on and I personally think they have better sales for these items on Monday.

5. Don’t forget about Small Business Saturday. Being a blogger, I have a love for small businesses and this day is especially important to show those ma and pop stores some love. I always stop in to Riffraff when in Fayetteville. I also love supporting local craft coffee shops and other boutique and home stores.

Old Navy/Gap : 50% off everything

Target: 30% off clothing and great deals on bedding/movies/etc.

JCrew: 40% off everything

Ever tried being a tourist in your own backyard? If not, then you should definitely put that on your list of to do’s this fall. My sister and I decided to explore our hometown, Dallas as if we were a tourist. We had so much fun and found so many new favorite spots for next time. Read below to find out what we did and what I wore…

First, we headed to grab some much needed caffeine at Houndstooth Coffee, iced vanilla latte of course! We then hit up Buffalo Exchange and North Park for some retail therapy. Buffalo Exchange is one of the best resale shops I have ever been to, if you haven’t been, you need to go! I kept my look casual and comfy for our busy day. I started my look with my New Balance tennies that I scored from Nordstrom Rack for cheap! I wore these black denim jeggings from Old Navy and the SOFTEST t-shirt in the history of t-shirts from Old Navy as well. I am a sucker for graphic tees and this one was too cute not to pass up.

Necessories: Black aviators, Fossil chestnut tote, simple Kendra Scott necklace and my go-to Fossil watch. My motto: keep it simple and neutral.

Did someone say brunch? I am all about brunch with friends on a Saturday morning and when I came across this brunch squad pullover, I about died. I love brunch but I love this sweatshirt even more. Read on for outfit details and styling tips for a more casual look to your fall..

I love being casual and comfy and when I find a sweater like this that is fashionable but super comfy, I am all in. I love wearing a graphic tee or hoodie with more casual looks like this with ripped jeans and converse. You could dress it down even more and wear some yoga pants and tennies but for my day to the farmers market, this was just what I needed. I found this brunch squad sweatshirt from Old Navy’s pajama section for under 3o bucks, yes you heard me! I love that my pink converse added just the right amount of color to my neutral look.

To necessorize, I wore my all black aviators I found on my way to check out at Old Navy the other day, they were under 10 bucks and looked expensive so how could I say no? I couldn’t…right? Anyway, I am working on my whole shopping problem thing and I am taking it one store at a time…lol.

Duck, Duck, Boots!

October 22, 2016

Processed with VSCO with s3 preset

Fall is officially here? Well, that’s what the calendar says but not my thermometer. Anyway, I’ll just sweat my way through the heat to dress for the season. Anyone else feel me? Today, I am sharing with you this fall look featuring my new favorite boots from Famous Footwear’s #fortheloveofshoes campaign! I have always wanted a nice pair of duck boots and I finally found the perfect ones.

When shoes are both practical and trendy, I feel ready to take on my day, one fashionable step at a time.

This look all started from the ground up with my new boots! I wanted to keep the color scheme going and this new flannel from Target did just that. The colors in this flannel just scream FALL and they perfectly matched the colors in my duck boots. I finished off my look with some skinny jeans to keep it casual.

Processed with VSCO with s3 preset

For my necessories, I added some simple pieces to complete my look. I wore my go-to Fossil watch and Fossil chestnut tote bag. I clearly have a thing for chestnut this time of year, it just goes with everything! I finished it off with my new Kendra Scott Skylar pearl earrings that gave my look a little flair.

I cannot believe it has been two years since I created my little blog. I started it as a way to express myself in a way that was different, somewhat scary, and intimidating and it has turned into my escape, my outlet, and something I am incredibly proud of. I wanted to share this look with y’all and share about all of my blogging ups/downs and what keeps me going after two years…Read below!

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

I have found that fashion blogging is incredibly competitive because every other girl is doing it. It is hard to stand out, it is hard to be unique, which makes it so easy to give up or continually compare yourself to others. That is what I have struggled with atleast, the constant comparison to other bloggers that “have more followers” or “work with brands more” than me and it has done nothing but make me question myself as a blogger and want to just give it all up. What keeps me going is the reason I started this Little Piece of Chic in the first place, fashion is something I am very passionate about and writing is my way to escape, so when I combined the two into blogging about something I am so passionate about, I felt at home. I still have so much growth and things to learn about this whole blogging thing but I am loving the opportunities it has brought me, the friends I have made, and the things I have learned along the way. If you are questioning starting a blog, or contemplating giving yours up, just remember to be yourself, and STOP comparing yourself to anyone else but you. I have found my outlet here at www.littlepieceofchic.com, where is yours?

This look is the perfect transition into fall with its neutral colors. For my second blogiversary, I decided to dress up my look with this black romper from Zara and these brown wedges that dressed up my look just enough. I just love this time of year because you can start slowly transitioning your wardrobe into fall with a few simple changes. 1. Less color, more neutrals. 2. Layer.

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

As far as necessories for this look go, I wore my Rocksbox set that I had to buy because I loved it that much. These two pieces from Kendra Scott added the perfect amount of color to my very neutral look and still kept it dressy. I finished it off with this snakeskin cross body bag that I got from Thred Up, the best online resale shop I’ve ever come across. This bag is Hobo brand and it was brand new with tags for $50 dollars! Head on over to https://www.thredup.com to find some amazing deals like this one.

Thank you so much for these past two years of support and encouragement that has brought me to this point. Please comment what you’d like to see in future posts! I would love some ideas from my favorite readers! Keep doing you and check back soon for another new look on LPOC!

palm of my hand

August 30, 2016

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

This dress was made for August. With the heat still lingering around, I have to find a way to stay cool  in style. This palm dress does just that. It is the perfect dress for layering and I just love the colors and pattern! I am so happy to be blogging again. I have recently begun my career as a first grade teacher in Coppell, Texas and boy am I tired! I am so happy where I am at and I hope to continue blogging while living my passion as a teacher. I will be sharing some tips on how to layer and giving outfit details below…

I scored this dress from Old Navy a few weeks ago and I have worn it so many times since. I love the palm print and the pops of pink throughout the dress. I decided to bring along my denim jacket to add a layer for the cooler nights. As a teacher, I constantly have to find ways to layer over a tank top or dress and a denim jacket is my go-to. This denim jacket is also from Old Navy! I finished my look off with the comfiest sandal, these white braided sandals from JCPenney’s for 10 bucks. I love how they tied in with the white in my dress and kept my look casual.

For necessories with this look, I added my rose gold, Fossil watch and some pearly white statement earrings from Nordstrom Rack. With these necessories, I decided to add some more color to my look with this blush pink, cross body bag from Old Navy(of course). It comes in three different colors and it is a great dupe off of the Chloe bag.

How is your August going? Can’t believe it is almost September! Thanks for stopping by,

Have a great week…

gingham style

August 5, 2016

Wishing I was strolling through Central Park right about now. Who else feels like summer just flew by? I can’t believe it is almost August already?! I wanted to share this look with y’all from my time in NYC wearing this two-piece set from none other than Old Navy. Read on for details…

For our second day in the big apple, we headed to Central Park in the morning for a bagel and coffee before going to the live showing of Jimmy Fallon later that afternoon. We somehow ended up in front row at his show and it was one of the coolest parts of our trip! Because we were doing a lot of walking I had to find a balance between comfy and stylish. I decided to wear this navy gingham two-piece set and layer a blush blazer on top for the cooler morning. I love the combo of navy & blush and it was the perfect summer look while strolling through NY.

Two piece sets are a must this season! I love this set because of the colors and gingham. Gingham just reminds me of summertime and I love it for that. This is a more casual way to style a two piece set. They can easily be dressed up with some fun wedges for a night out. For my necessories, I wore my blush cross body purse that somehow matched perfectly with my blazer. I also wore my rose gold sunnies to tie in more pink to my look because why not. I finished off my look with two items from Rocksbox that were both navy/gold and tied it all together.

It feels sooo good to be blogging again! I have been a traveling nanny this summer and am finally home for good! I cannot believe it is already the end of July, where has our summer gone?! I have an exciting announcement to share with y’all! I have accepted a first grade teaching position in Coppell ISD at Mockingbird Elementary and will begin teaching this August. I am beyond excited to begin my career and meet my future kiddos and can’t wait for what this year will bring. I hope to continue blogging throughout the school year as much as possible! Read on for details of this summery look of mine featuring this aztec print tunic from Shop the Mint…

Shout out to Shop the Mint for my new favorite top. This printed tunic is super versatile and the perfect summer top. For this look, I styled it with some light wash jeans and chestnut booties to give me some height and dress up my look. This type of shirt would also look cute more casual with shorts and sandals for a day on the town look. These booties are the perfect height/color and I can always count on them to give my look something extra.

For the necessories, I kept it simple because of my busy top. I wore these white tassel earrings I scored from RiffRaff and my brown Fossil watch. Because the neckline of this top goes so high up a necklace is not necessary, so have some fun with some statement earrings to finish off the look!
