wanderer bracelets

February 17, 2017

Happy FRIYAY! I am so excited to share these bracelets with y’all! Wanderer Bracelets are handmade in a hut in Bali to support sustainable work for village artisans. When you show off your bracelet, you are supporting the artisans who made it just for you! Head to this link to shop their adorable bracelets like these three I have styled here: https://wandererbracelets.com?rfsn=461401.ce4dfb & to top it off, use my promo code: LITTLEPIECEOFCHIC20 at checkout for 20% off your purchase! These bracelets make me feel like I’m headed to the beach which is perfect timing for spring break coming up before we know it! Here’s to supporting village artisans and looking good while doing it! Read on below to see how I styled my 3 favorite Wanderer bracelets…

Because my bracelet stack was black & pink, I wanted to keep my look pretty neutral so that the bracelets could stand out. I chose the pink eye bracelet: https://www.wandererbracelets.com/collections/all-bracelets/products/mini-evil-eye-bracelet-1 and this mini moon bracelet:  https://www.wandererbracelets.com/collections/all-bracelets/products/mini-moon-bracelet-preorder and  this beaded bracelet: https://www.wandererbracelets.com/collections/all-bracelets/products/lima-beads-bracelet-small-beads?variant=30485795660 to complete my stack.

I am loving this lace up style right now and this denim lace-up top from Old Navy is going to be my spring staple. I paired it with my new black, boyfriend jeans from Old Navy as well(linked below). Their rockstar jeans are my all time favorite jeans and are super affordable. I finished my look with these tan booties that are a great transitional piece into spring.

To accessorize, I obviously wore my Wanderer bracelets! I also decided to change it up and wear my new Warby Parker glasses that added an extra something to my beachy look. These are the Durand glasses(linked below) I finished my accessories with this black cross body bag from Old Navy that tied in perfectly with my black bracelets and jeans!

Here’s to a fun weekend! I am headed out of town for a bachelorette cabin getaway, I am too excited!

Galentine’s Day

February 13, 2017

You might be asking, “What’s Galentine’s Day?” As Leslie Knope says, “Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.” So basically, it’s an excuse to drink mimosas, get dressed up and go out with your girlfriends somewhere fun! Ladies celebrating ladies!

I am going to be sharing this Valentine’s/Galentine’s day look with you along with some tips and recommendations for celebrating accordingly…

For Valentine’s day/Galentine’s day, I always see so many posts about the perfect look that usually includes a fancy dress, heels and the whole get up. Well, I’m here to say that I am not about that life, haha. I am all about comfort and dressing up a pair of black jeans like I have done with this look. I just love all black looks because of how dressy they seem! Especially if you are going out with you girlfriends on Galentine’s day, go against the status quo of this holiday and wear black! I do love adding some hints of pinks or reds to my look for this day but in small doses. For this look, I styled this floral blouse from Altar’d State(similar styles linked below) with my favorite black jeans from Old Navy. This top has the perfect pop of pink that really stands out among all the black. I finished my v-day look off with these grey, suede boots from none other than Target?! Not to mention they were under $40…Read on for accessory details and tips for VDay and Galentine’s Day…

For my necessories, I added a few key pieces to complete my night out look. I am just loving the choker fad right now and this simple black choker from Brandy Melville tied in perfectly with my all black look. I added my go-to, rose-gold apple watch with my new favorite band, this rose-gold metal band I found on Amazon for only $12…I finished off my details with this perfect, little black bag from Old Navy that I scored for $4! Read below for my tips/tricks to make this Galentine’s Day/Valentine’s Day the best yet!

Galentine’s Day musts:

  1. First off, Galentine’s Day falls on a Monday, so throw on your comfiest PJ set with your girlfriends, pop open a bottle of your favorite wine, have some popcorn & indulge in the drama in the newest episode of The Bachelor!
  2. If you aren’t into all that drama, head to a new restaurant with your girls, try a new sushi place, hit up happy hour, or go hang out at a coffee shop and share a yummy pastry!
  3. Show your girls just how much you care with a funny Valentine card or celebrate each other by treating yo selves to a pedi! Wind down after with your fav chick flick(He’s Just Not That Into You is my all time FAV Valentine movie)

Valentine’s Day do’s:

  1. If the weather is nice, pack a picnic including all your favorites and head to a park at sunset!
  2. Try a progressive date, start at one restaurant and try an appetizer, head somewhere new for the main course, and then hit up your favorite dessert spot to finish the night off!
  3. Breakfast for dinner: My boyfriend and I have spent now 7 Valentine’s Days together so it’s getting harder to think of something new to do! This year, we are keeping it casual(and cheap) and cooking up some breakfast for dinner together while watching a movie(chick flick Patrick?)

I hope these ideas inspire you to try something new with that special BFF of BF in your life this Val/Galentine’s day! I’d love to hear what your favorite traditions are for this holiday. #stepforward

February 6, 2017

When it comes to confidence, I can be my own worst critic. I struggle with comparing myself to other girls, letting my own insecurities overcome me. This causes me to grow jealous and wish I looked like or had the same success as someone I don’t even know. When Famous Footwear asked me to share my #stepforward story, this idea of confidence came to mind. Ever since I started my blog, Little Piece of Chic, just over 2 years ago, I feel like I have grown to see myself in a better light and have gained more confidence in my self and body. My style is unique and special to me and it is my outlet to express myself. I feel most confident and comfortable when I love what I am wearing and one of my favorite looks is athleisure. On the weekends and after work, you will find me in my favorite boyfriend jeans, graphic tee and my go-to shoe, tennis shoes! What gives you confidence to #stepforward?

These rose gold & black New Balance tennies are the perfect athletic shoe because they are both comfy & chic. They can be dressed up or down, depending on your day! I love wearing mine with leggings and a big sweater on lazy days and I can also wear them with a casual dress in the spring time.

For this look, I went with my usual: graphic tee shirt, black jeans & all black accessories! This ‘weekends are for cuddling’ graphic sweatshirt is from Target and it is possibly the softest sweatshirt in the history of sweatshirts, not to mention the adorable pink color and relatable quote. It is also under $30 and linked below. I just bought myself a new pair of black rockstar jeans from Old Navy that have are cropped at the ankle(linked below). My new New Balance rose gold & black tennies gave my athleisure look the perfect touch of chic and tied in perfectly with my color scheme. Scroll on down to buy yourself these tennies(under $75!)

When I am wearing my go-to casual look like this one, I always wear some simple necessories to complete my look. Because I was already wearing lots of black with my jeans & shoes, I decided to keep it going with my accessories and wore my all black aviators, Kendra Scott marble necklace & my new favorite purse, this black strapped cross body from Old Navy that is under $40(linked below).

Here’s to stepping forward more confidently and loving yourself just the way you are!

XOXO, LPOC

spring forward with Francesca’s: Night

February 3, 2017

Who’s ready for the weekend?! ME! This post is part 2 of my spring forward, day to night look with Francesca’s, sharing tips and outfit details from my spring night out look! Read on for my night out details & styling tips for dressing like spring in February…

From day to night, transitioning into spring for me means dressing more girly, which means more dresses and skirts! I just love this floral sleeved dress from Francesca’s. Long sleeved dresses make for the perfect transitional piece into spring. It still keeps you warm for a night out but looks like a spring piece. This dark green dress has the most beautiful floral design and opened sleeves. When I came across this dress online, I knew it had to be mine! I am a sucker for floral & flowy dresses and this is just that!

I styled my floral sleeved dress with these tan mules from Francesca’s. Mules are a definite must for spring this year and they are the perfect neutral color to pair with my colorful dress. I just love mules because you don’t have to deal with any straps or buckles, you just slip them right on! Shop my spring night out look with links below…

To accessorize my spring night out look, I went for the oh so stylish choker that just about everyone is wearing. This choker is my favorite because of how unique it is! I love the grey stone and long length. You can wear this one choker in so many different ways and its neutral color goes with just about everything. If you aren’t sure about the whole choker thing, I suggest trying a choker like this one that is more versatile!

I hope you enjoyed my day to night looks with Francesca’s! I am beyond excited for spring weather and fashion and you can find all my favorite spring pieces ready to shop here:

spring forward with Francesca’s: Day

February 3, 2017

It’s officially February and my closet is officially ready to spring forward thanks to Francesca’s! I am going to be styling a day to night, winter to spring look featuring all of my favorite spring finds from Francesca’s Boutique. This is part 1 of my day to night post, styling spring transitional pieces perfect for a spring day! Scroll down to read how I transition my winter wardrobe to spring with a few key tips…

To style my spring day look, I started with this floral, denim button up. The first way to smoothly transition your wardrobe into spring is to start wearing floral again! During the winter months, I typically wear only neutral sweaters, plaid flannels and striped tops. So when spring is coming, I start wearing more floral to begin my transition with brighter colors and patterns that match the coming season. The second style tip for transitioning into spring is to wear more denim! When I think spring, I think denim button ups and floral, which is why this top(linked below) is the perfect transitional piece.

I styled this button up with these dark wash, boyfriend jeans from Francesca’s that are super stretchy, making them so comfy! My third style tip to spring forward successfully is to wear more pink! In the winter season, I am usually caught wearing nothing but greys, browns and blacks. That is why it is so fun to start adding some color back into your life, and that color for me is pink! I just love blush anything and these earrings and sunnies added the perfect pop of pink that tied in perfectly with my floral top.

When I have a busy day ahead of me, I always go for comfort and simplicity. Boyfriend jeans and button ups are the perfect pieces for a busy day of running errands, shopping, etc. and they are my go-to! To accesorize my spring day look, I wore these pink, tassel statement earrings that coordinated perfectly with my floral top and dressed up my look just enough. I always need a good pair of sunnies to get me through a busy day and these pink, rounded sunnies were the perfect addition to my spring look. I just love how oversized they are! I finished off my spring day look with this grey cross body bag from Francesca’s that is the perfect size and color. Because my top and jewelry had a lot of color, I wanted to tone it down a bit with this neutral colored bag.

Stay tuned for part 2 of my day to night spring look, coming tonight on Little Piece of Chic…

Happy February & Happy Friyay

let’s go to the barre

January 22, 2017

In my recent post in my Home Chic Home series, I talked all about creating new habits for the new year. One of my habits was of course to become more active and find time in my busy week to workout and stay active. To me, it is all about getting myself there and once I am there, I feel motivated. So basically, I need to find ways to motivate myself to turn off Gilmore Girls and the Bachelor and get my booty to the gym. Read below for what motivates me and what my new favorite workout class is…

The number one thing that gets me to the gym most days is my favorite activewear. I know that seems ridiculous but it really does work for me. If I have a cute gym outfit, you bet I’ll be at the gym wearing it. I recently splurged on these insanely comfortable leggings from Lululemon. They are my first pair of Lululemon pants and now I see the light. Wow, they are the best purchase ever! So comfy and super high quality material that gets you through any workout. They also have side pockets for your keys or phone that I am just obsessed with. My number one go-to spot for activewear is Old Navy(what’s new). They always have such good sales and adorable pieces. I scored this Cheers graphic tee for under $10 recently and I can wear it to workout or dress it up for a night out. Finally, to my maroon tennies. These babies are my favorite shoe currently and they are under $100 at Famous Footwear. They add the perfect pop of color to my dark look!

My apple watch is my best friend lately at the gym! I love that it tracks my heart rate and I can control my music from my wrist! I also love the exchangeable bands like this new black one I just ordered off of Amazon for 8 dollars!

I have recently started taking classes at Barre3 in Coppell, TX and it is my new favorite workout. I love the atmosphere, positivity and encouragement from the instructors and members! My teacher friends and I make it a weekly routine now to go together and it really holds me accountable. I have not yet signed up for a full membership but I do buy class packages and keep coming back. Barre3 is a lot like Pure Barre if you have heard of that. However, Barre3 is a combo of yoga, pilates & barre which really give you a variety when working out. It builds muscle, tests your balance and strengthens your entire body in just one hour and I always leave sweating and sore. If you have never taken a barre class before, I highly suggest trying it out! It is always good to add some variety into your workout routine and barre3 does just that for me.

Here’s to new habits, chic workout gear & trying new things this 2017…

What’s your favorite workout class? Yoga, barre, weight lifting? I’d love to hear!

miles to magnolia

January 14, 2017

If you haven’t been to Magnolia yet, put that on your list of to do’s this 2017. It is such a fun day trip to check out the town of Waco and do all things fixer upper. The store is full of everything you’ve always wanted and they even have food trucks and fun, family activities outdoors. I highly suggest going on a nice, spring day! I wanted to share some pictures from my day at Magnolia and tips on shopping affordably when you are there…

The day we went to Magnolia was an unusually warm winter day and so I went with some layering just in case it got to be too warm. I just bought this striped peplum top from Old Navy and I think I want it in every color they have. It is under $25 and super flattering! It is the perfect transition piece into spring time which I can’t believe I am even saying because it is still January. I kept my look mostly black with black sculpt jeans from Old Navy, my striped top & my go-to leather jacket I scored from TjMaxx. I love a good leather jacket but can’t afford the real stuff. This leather jacket was under $30 but still looks expensive. I finished my look off with my favorite tan booties I found at Famous Footwear this past fall. I love a good, simple outfit like this and it always looks put together without trying too hard.

While at Magnolia, channel 10 was asking some shoppers what they were looking forward to in 2017 and what their memories were of 2016. It was a cool experience and really challenged me to truly think about what I want out of this new year. I challenge you to ask yourself the same question!

When shopping at Magnolia, it is easy to want EVERYTHING. I suggest picking 1 or 2 favorites and buying those. You can always find similar items at Home Goods or flea markets. My family and I went to Magnolia when there was a huge sale going on, 75% off all holiday decor. I highly suggest going next year right after Christmas to get this great deal again!

For necessories with this look, I added some key pieces to dress my look up a bit. I wore this statement necklace from Gap and my maroon tote that I wear literally everyday from Old Navy! I finished off with my new go-to watch, my rose gold apple watch with my new rose gold band I got off amazon for 15 bucks! Can you tell I like rose gold?

Have you been to Magnolia? If so, what is your favorite find or memory? Comment below, I’d love to hear!

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great LONG weekend, stay tuned for exciting collaborations coming up for LPOC,

XOXO

hats off to 2016

December 31, 2016

Hats off to 2016, or hats on? I cannot believe we are already to 2017?! This year has been full of change, growing up, challenges, fun & lots more and I am so blessed to be where I am in my life right now. I cannot wait to see what is in store for 2017 and to bring new, exciting things to Little Piece of Chic! I wanted to share this cozy, casual look with you and give you tips on how to wear tennies with jeans without having “mom style”…

My family and I traveled to Fayetteville, AR to visit family the day after Christmas and we had so much fun! I just love the quirky town of Fayetteville and had to visit their downtown square. It was a chilly morning in NWA so I decided to do some layering over this simple grey long sleeve tee from Old Navy. I wore this puffy green jacket from Gap as my layering piece to block the wind and make my look ever sportier. I finished my look with some black skinnies(linked below) and the comfiest Nikes I scored from TjMaxx!

Certain tennies are acceptable with jeans if you style them correctly. Beware of chunky sneakers and baggy jeans, you will be rocking that “mom” look. I love simple tennies with not much color so that they go with everything. These grey Nike fashion tennies were the perfect match for this casual, wintery look.

To accessorize this look, I added a few of my favorites to finish the look off. This B&W blanket scarf from Old Navy was the perfect layering piece. I finished it off with this maroon tote & baseball cap that went together perfectly. I love casual, athletic looks like this one to get you through the cold months.

What are your favorite memories from 2016? Comment below! Happy New Year’s Eve and here’s to new beginning in 2017.

XOXO, LPOC
