little piece of chic

chic happens

all tied up

June 7, 2017

It’s officially SUMMER for this teacher and I am already like, now what?! I need to enjoy this time off and relax but I guess I like being busy and having routines. Guess I’ll have to make my own routines this summer. I think it will include netflix binging, yoga classes, coffee shops & blogging! But really, my goal this summer is to blog A LOT more. I love engaging with you and sharing my style. I am all about this neck tie trend lately, especially this black handkerchief from Madewell for under $20! Read below for how I
style this neck tie that is oh so trendy right now.

To style my black & white neck tie, I wanted to add some color. This “Oh Hey” graphic tee was the perfect piece to make my look a little bit more summery. I think my color for this summer is going to be orange. I am loving this deep bright orange lately! I added some light wash boyfriend flared jeans and some simple black sandals that I scored from Nordstrom Rack(Steve Madden). They tied in perfectly with my black accessories to complete my summer casual look. I accessorized with my neck tie, my tan Fossil watch & this black faux leather cross body bag from Old Navy. Shop all of my pieces from this look below…

Happy hump day & Happy shopping!

suit up

May 22, 2017

When in doubt, jumpsuit it out! But really, jumpsuit are my go-to when I don’t feel like wearing a dress but want to change it up a bit. & I think I’ve found this best jumpsuit yet(for the best price) and I might even have it in 2 colors already…woops. Read below to shop my favorite denim jumper and see how I styled it for a day in Dallas.

Styling a jump suit is pretty simple because it is a top and pants in one! All you need is some killer shoes and fun accessories and you got yourself the perfect spring to summer look. Denim is my favorite color currently, it pairs well with browns and reds like I did here. I wore my suede tan mules to dress up my pant suit a little. I then added some fun necessories that you can read about below!

THE BEST MATTE LIPSTICK EVER Y’ALL! This Julep matte red is just about the best thing that has happened to my lips. This lipstick is the perfect red and it doesn’t dry out your lips like a lot of matte sticks. I also like that it is liquid, making it easier to apply! I love wearing red lipstick with chambray because it pops.

I added a few fun necessories like these white tassel earrings and my Fossil tan watch. I finished off my look with my brown tote from Fossil that I wear literally everyday. Shop all of my look below including my denim jumper and my favorite matte lipstick.

Thanks for reading!

chic happens

May 13, 2017

Saturday Chic! I just love Saturday’s so why not post a new chic look every Saturday?! This look is especially chic thanks to my new favorite graphic tee from my friend over at LallyandDtees! You can find her on Instagram or Etsy! I am a graphic tee fanatic and this one might just be my fav yet. Read below for how I styled my Chic happens tee…

To style this Saturday look, I paired my tee with my current favorite light washed denim flared jeans that are linked below and under $40! I front tucked my tee since it is a little more oversized. To dress up my outfit, I added a few key pieces. This red, polka dot neck tie and these suede tan mules did the trick! I am loving this neck tie trend and this polka dot one from Madewell for under $30 is too perfect. It added the perfect pop of color to contrast my B&W tee. The mules are the perfect shoe to pair with some flared jeans.

Necessories: Fossil watch, check! Tan cross body bag, check! Fun neck tie, check! Kendra Scott studs, check!

My Saturday look was inspired by this chic happens graphic tee, what is your current favorite spring piece?! I’d love to read in the comments below.

Happy Weekend y’all!

Saturday Chic

April 29, 2017

Feelin’ like Blair Waldorf this Saturday thanks to macaron towers & this pretty eyelet top. If you haven’t been to Bisous Bisous Patisserie in uptown Dallas, you must! It is off of Mockingbird Lane which has the best shopping Dallas has to offer and it is the perfect midday stop to grab a latte & rasberry macaron. Read below for my outfit details and scroll to the bottom of my post to shop my entire look with LiketoKnowit.

This spring look was inspired by my love for off the shoulder & eyelet this season. When I spotted this top, I knew it had to be mine! I just love the details on the sleeve and the clean, simple look. I decided to dress it up with some ripped black jeans, wedges & a fun necklace. I highly recommend off the shoulder tops this season, they are dressy but still comfortable and can be styled in many different ways.

Thanks to Macy’s backstage for helping me accesorize my spring look. This Vince Camuto cross body has the cutest stitching and fun tassels. Macy’s new store, https://www.macysbackstage.com/home has the cutest clothes for the best prices, go check them out to find steals like this purse! I finished my look off with my Fossil brown watch, mustard tassel necklace and this crossbody purse.

This French bakery in uptown is just too cute y’all! I ordered the raspberry & Tahitian vanilla macarons and they were too good.

Happy Saturday fashionistas,

XOXO, LPOC

heart eyes

April 22, 2017

Insert heart eyes emoji here. The liketoknow.it mural in Dallas is just too much fun! After seeing posts from other bloggers in Dallas, I knew I had to make a visit and see the adorable mural myself. If you haven’t gotten to check it out, head to The Standard Pour and obsess over it with me. I am sharing my tips on how to dress up in springtime without always wearing floral. Anyone else on floral overload lately? Don’t get me wrong, I love me some floral. I just like to take a break every now and then and dress more neutral. This denim dress is the perfect spring staple to change things up a bit. Denim is your friend ladies. Read below for more…

This denim dress is under $50 and linked below with Liketoknow.it. It is my all time favorite spring dress. I know that’s a bold statement but I believe it to be true! It can be styled in SO many different ways. Spending a day in Uptown had me feelin’ fancy so I dressed this denim number up with these fun brown wedges that are a dupe to the ever so popular Marc Fisher wedges. I scored these wedges last season at Old Navy so unfortunately, I couldn’t find the exact ones, but I have linked similar styles below that will not break the budget.

Knowing I was headed to this fun wall, I wanted to add some pops of color to my spring neutral look. These sunnies are just so fun with the pink reflectors. I got these last week at Old Navy for 8 dollars….8 dollars people(linked below). I finished my day in Dallas look off with this brown Fossil tote that I obviously wear too much along with these blush tassel earrings from Francesca’s. They are sold out of this color but I have linked other colors with this same style. They add the perfect pop of spring to my look without overpowering the dress.

springtime blues

April 15, 2017

Happy Saturday! It’s been awhile since I’ve written a blog post and I am super excited to share some fun new looks coming soon! I have been shopping for some spring staples and I think I’ve found them. These pieces in this look are my go-to lately and they can be styled in so many different ways. Read below for my spring staples day to night post!

DAY:

My favorite color this season is blue! I am loving everything chambray, denim and all things blue, hence my nail color, shoes & earrings. This spring day time look was styled with a few key pieces. This grey knotted tie top is a Madewell sale section find and it is one of my most worn pieces this season. I love that it can dress up or down any look and matches basically everything. I have linked this exact top below along with the rest of my spring look. I paired this grey top with my new fav jeans from Old Navy. These dark wash fray jeans are so fun and comfy. they pair great with a tighter fitting top since they are a little oversized. I finished my daytime look with these strappy blue sandals from Steve Madden that I scored at TjMaxx! They have the best shoe selection this time of year. I love how these shoes add an extra element of spring to any look.

Necessories:

To accesorize this spring daytime look, I wore these blue tassel earrings to contrast against my grey top. I added my fav sunnies, these tortoise sunglasses from Madewell that are worth the splurge! I finished my look off with my brown Fossil tote and tan watch.

NIGHT:

To transition my springtime blues look to night, I switched out my denim pants for a denim skirt, traded my blue sandals for these fun wedges and dressed up my look with different jewelry. I just love outfits that are super versatile and this look is just that. Read below for how I styled my springtime night out look!

My night out look is super simple. I kept my grey top on, added this dark wash denim skirt, traded my tassel earrings for these olive green/rose gold Kendra Scott earrings that coordinated perfectly with my block heeled olive wedges. These wedges are everything! I scored these Steve Madden shoes at TjMaxx for $35! They make such a statement and pair perfectly with denim/neutrals.

Hope you are feeling inspired to try your own day to night look! I’d love to hear what your favorite spring staples are, comment below. Have a great weekend and a Happy Easter, HE is Risen!

XOXO, LPOC

April: Try something new!

April 2, 2017

Happy April! I am excited to share a new Home Chic Home post with you! This month of change in the weather and transitioning into spring has me wanting to try new things in all areas of my life! Today, I want to share some ways I change up my style by trying things out of my comfort zone and how that can transition into other areas of your life! Let’s try something new together, read below for more…

My style continually evolves as I grow older and feel more comfortable in my own skin. Lately, I have been all about wearing something I never thought I would. One thing I remember always saying was, “You will never catch me in flared jeans.” Well, here I am sharing this look with you with jeans way out of my comfort zone. These cropped, flared jeans are frayed at the bottom and are now one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I love how they are different and add an extra something to my look. I have linked these jeans below with LTKIt!

Another thing that is in style but may be intimidating to try is block heels. These shoes really make a statement and may be something you are not used to. However, they are SO comfy because they have a lot of support and they are my favorite shoe to pair with these jeans. I have never worn green, suede wedges before but I am loving them!

To finish off my look, I added a simple black tank to tuck into my jeans. I layered this patterned jacket over my top to add some texture to my look. I scored this jacket from Buffalo Exchange in Charlotte but it is originally from Old Navy! I love how it is so different and fun and what it adds to such a simple look. I accessorized my look with my fossil tan watch, black statement necklace and a simple black cross body bag that I have linked below. Because my outfit had so many different things going on, I wanted my accessories to stay neutral and simple. Read below for how you can try something new at home, in your life or with your style!

April: Let’s try something new!

  1. Wear something out of your comfort zone!
  2. Try a new workout class: yoga, barre3, etc.!
  3. Change up your space: redecorate your room, move furniture around or clean out your clutter!
  4. Plant something! It is spring and it is always so fun to grow something, I opt for succulents(less work and they live forever!)
  5. Be a tourist in your own city: Pinterest a fun brunch or dinner place, shop at a new store or explore a new part of town you haven’t ventured to before!
  6. Start a new devotional or listen to a new playlist on Spotify

I just attended the Sparrow Women’s conference in Dallas and am feeling super empowered and inspired to be a more faithful woman and love others better. What is something you want to start fresh this spring? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Here’s to a fresh start to spring, let’s try something new!

Thanks for reading and stopping by, have a great rest of your Sunday,

XOXO, LPOC

Queen C

March 25, 2017

Currently reminiscing on my time in Charlotte, NC. Hands down, one of my favorite cities I’ve been to. It is the cutest city and it feels like a big city but with less traffic and less people! Charlotte has such yummy food and cute parks and I wanted to share this look from my day in downtown Charlotte. Read below for outfit details and tips on what to do when in the queen city…

To dress for this spring day in Charlotte, I wanted to wear a top that could make a statement on its own. This floral flounce top from Shop The Mint does just that. I love the pattern and colors in this fun spring top and you can shop it here: https://www.shopthemint.com/products/a-friend-in-florals-top-blue It’s under $40! I added some browns and neutrals to the rest of my look so that my top could stand out. This tan army jacket from Gap has been my go to this spring. I have linked this exact jacket below, it is a must! I finished this outfit off with my favorite Old Navy jeans and some blush loafers(linked below).

Necessories(Necessary Accessories): This tan Fossil tote was THE perfect travel bag for my spring break tip to Charlotte. It matches literally everything and holds all my junk! I have linked this exact tote below with LiketoknowIt! I wore these fun navy tassel earrings that I bought when in Charlotte at a small boutique. I found very similar earrings at Francesca’s that I have linked below. I finished my necessories with my cat eye, tortoise sunglasses(ON SALE) from Madewell and linked below along with my Fossil leather watch.

Charlotte Musts:

  1. Freedom Park
  2. Not Just Coffee
  3. Dean & Deluca
  4. 7th street market
  5. Earl’s Grocery: Turkey sandwich(just trust me)
  6. Best shrimp n grits: 300 East
  7. Rooftop bar: Farenheit
  8. Hip neighborhood: NODA

tee party

March 5, 2017

I think graphic tees might be my love language. I have a weakness for a simple tee with the perfect saying or funny quote and my closet is full of graphic tees & sweatshirts. This Mascara & Coffee graphic tee might just be my favorite yet. Maybe because it was only $12 or maybe because it is everything I love in one shirt! Read below to see how I style this simple graphic tee as I transition into spring…

I love that this tee is so simple & white so that it can be layered with almost anything. For this look, I let the shirt do the talking and kept the rest of my look even more simple. These black ripped skinnies are my favorite jeans right now. They are the Rockstar jeans from Old Navy(linked below) and are super comfy and versatile. They also fray at the end, which makes them even better! I layered this denim jacket over my tee to contrast my black jeans & survive in this crazy spring/winter weather we have been having in Dallas.

I finished off my neutral spring look with the shoe that is trending right now, these black slip ons that are my go-to lately. They are super comfy and go with almost everything! I have linked similar styles below with LiketoKnowIt! As far as necessories go, I kept it pretty simple to go along with my black & white look. I wore this gold and white layered necklace I bought from Charming Charlie’s last year and I still wear it now, I have linked some very similar necklaces below. I finished it all off with my go to, this black cross body bag from Old Navy that is under $30(linked below) & my favorite accessory lately, my rose gold Apple watch. I have a new rose gold band that I wear basically everyday to dress up the watch, I have linked that exact band below! I love completing a look with a fun lip color, this berry lipstick color is Elf matte lipstick that I always buy from Target or Old Navy(only $3 and it stays all day!)

Have a relaxing Sunday, here’s to only one more week until spring break, we can do it!!
